Many women suffer from menstrual cramps and are looking for useful and effective remedy for this problem. Here are three stretches that will relieve your cramps and will make you feel better.

1. The Butterfly Stretch

This stretch is useful when the pain is coming from the thighs. It can also reduce the pain caused by lower back cramps. To make the Butterfly Stretch, you need to sit on the floor and place your legs in front of you in the form of a slight V. Then you should bring your feet as close as possible to your body or to cross the feet over one another. Next, bend forward as you keep your back straight. In case you feel any pain in the back or legs, take a position that is not so extreme.

2. The Wall Stretch

The Wall Stretch helps for treatment of cramps that come from the tights but it can reduce pain that comes from the stomach, womb or lower back. You need to lie on your back near a wall and scoot until your touch the wall with your butt. Then you should hold your legs in the air as they are parallel to the wall. Next, separate the legs in a V shape and let them rest on the low as low as comfortable for you.

3. The Stomach Stretch

This stretch helps eliminate cramps that emanate from both thigh and lower back, and can help diminish the pain from the stomach / womb

The stretch is beneficial in cases of cramps that come from the thighs and the lower back. They also relieve pain from the stomach or womb. To make the Stomach Stretch, you should lie on your stomach and stretch your legs behind you. The upper body should be propped on your forearms. Try bringing your feet as close to your body as possible while your knees touch the floor.

Estrogen is a natural occurring hormone which has important functions. It helps for the maintenance of reproductive health, as well for healthy skin, hair and bones. However, in some cases there are very high levels of estrogen and this condition is known as “estrogen dominance”. Excessive estrogen levels are responsible for menstrual problems and PMS problems; they are associated with breast cancer and other medical issues.

Excessive estrogen levels in women is signalled by the following symptoms: dry skin, vaginal dryness, tender breasts, low libido, mood changes, night sweats, water retention, loss of memory, insomnia, early occurring puberty or menopause, irregular periods, irritability, heavy and long lasting periods, PMS, depression, fatigue, weight gain, migraine, infertility, miscarriage, fibrocystic breasts, polycystic ovary syndrome, breast cancer. These symptoms can range from mild to severe and even life-threatening.

Estrogen dominance is caused by various factors, the most common of which are insufficient levels of progesterone, exposure to xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens, birth control pills, and hormone replacement therapy.
In addition, excessive estrogen levels may a result of serious diseases, and that’s why it is very important to consult a doctor in case you experience the above-mentioned symptoms.

Also, estrogen dominance may be caused by obesity as fat cells produce this hormone. Excessive alcohol consumption may also become a reason for increased estrogen levels because the balance of this hormone is controlled by the liver, and if the liver’s function is improper, then the balance of estrogen won’t be maintained.

The number of women diagnosed with breast cancer is growing every day. However, women should know that breast cancer can be treated successfully, especially if it is diagnosed on an early stage. Regular exams are necessary, and women are recommended to check their breasts by themselves. Here are some breast cancer symptoms you should be careful about.

The first and most obvious symptoms if the formation of a lump in the breast that can be felt when you touch and examine the breasts. These lumps may cause prickly feeling, but in most of the cases they are soft and tender. Women should know that breast lumps can be seen on a mammogram long before they can be felt.

Breast cancer can be also signalled by chances in the breast size, such as swelling. If this swelling is not related to your menstrual cycle, then you should not ignore it but should immediately consult a doctor.

Another breast cancer symptom is changed nipples and discharge from the nipples. They may increase their size and become stiff. In addition, rashes may develop around the nipples. Discharge from the nipples is common between the age of 41 and 58, but if this discharge is from one of the breast and is mixed with blood, it may be a breast cancer sign.

An immediate consultation with a doctor is required when you notice any of these signs. Don’t ignore them because time is essential for the successful treatment of breast cancer.

As a tumor develops, you may note the following signs:

A lump in the breast or underarm that persists after your menstrual cycle; often the first apparent symptom of breast cancer, breast lumps are painless, although some may cause a prickly sensation. Lumps are usually visible on a mammogram long before they can be seen or felt.

Swelling in the armpit.

Although lumps are usually painless, pain or tenderness in the breast can be a sign of breast cancer.

A noticeable flattening or indentation on the breast, which may indicate a tumor that cannot be seen or felt.

Any change in the size, contour, texture, or temperature of the breast; a reddish, pitted surface like the skin of an orange could be a sign of advanced breast cancer.

A change in the nipple, such as an indrawn or dimpled look, itching or burning sensation, or ulceration; scaling of the nipple is symptomatic of Paget’s disease, a localized cancer.

Unusual discharge from the nipple that may be clear, bloody, or another color. It’s usually caused by benign conditions but could be due to cancer in some cases.

A marble-like area under the skin.

An area that is distinctly different from any other area on either breast.

Food is not only essential for the normal function of our body systems. It provides us with energy to live and to perform our everyday activities. In addition, food can be very beneficial for treatment of various conditions and symptoms.

Menopause is one natural condition that can be soothed with food. Certain types of food can treat the symptoms of this condition that is experienced by all women. Menopause usually occurs between the ages of 40 and 60 years. When menopause occurs, the body stops producing estrogen and progesterone, and the monthly menstrual cycles stop.

Women strive to preserve their beauty as longer as possible and to remain attractive for the opposite sex. Breasts are an inseparable part of female attraction and sex appeal, so most of the efforts of women are directed exactly at this body part.

Recent research shows that most of the women regard their breasts as small and want to enlarge them. The number of women who are satisfied with the size and shape of their breast is very limited. So, many women are looking for safe and effective breast enlargement methods.

For quite a long period of time, implants and breast augmentation surgery remained the only breast augmentation techniques. These methods, however, are not safe and in many cases they are not effective. Breast surgery has many disadvantages: it leaves scars, it is painful, it may cause serious infections, it involves great discomfort and it is very expensive. Many women report leakage of the implants after the surgery.

All these disadvantages make women all over the world look for other breast enlargement methods. One such alternative is natural breast enlargement which uses the power and properties of natural herbs and plants.

Natural breast enlargement gains popularity among women as it is safe and effective. The herbal products used to increase the size of the breasts don’t have any side effects because they are organic and don’t contain chemicals. In addition, natural breast enlargement products are cheaper than surgical procedures and implants. They don’t cause pain or discomfort, and don’t pose risks of infections.

Finding the right contraceptive

Fallen out of love with your birth control? Maybe you’re put off by side effects. Or remembering to pop a pill isn’t your strong suit.

Problem is, going without isn’t a good choice, even as you get older: Nearly 40% of pregnancies among women in their 40s, for instance, are unplanned.

Which one is best for you? We’ve assembled some popular choices here. (However, there are other methods, such as the diaphragm, female condom, NuvaRing, and the Patch, that we didn’t include).

Combo pill
: Who can try it?

Almost all women.

Surprised? Truth is, a growing body of research debunks some myths surrounding this 99%–effective form of contraception—like the notion that it brings on menopause or ups the risk for some cancers.

The Pill can ease maddening perimenopausal symptoms like hot flashes, hormonal mood swings, and irregular bleeding.

What’s more, it may help prevent ovarian and uterine cancers.

Combo pill
: Who should avoid it?

If you’re a migraine sufferer, you may want to steer clear; the Pill is thought to trigger headaches and raise the risk of stroke in some migraineurs. (Experts aren’t sure why, but the dip in estrogen during the “off week” is one suspect.)

And smokers older than 35—that includes the I-only-light-up-when-I-drink crowd—should avoid the Pill, as both estrogen and smoking cause blood to clot more easily.

Progestin-only pill
: Who can try it?

Women who are breast-feeding (this oral contraceptive will not lower milk supply), or those who can’t take estrogen-based pills due to cardiovascular disease or blood-clot risks, or because they smoke.

Like the combo type, this “mini-Pill” protects against pregnancy via a low dose of hormones, but it’s estrogen-free.

Note: The progestin-only Pill is slightly less failure-proof than the combo kind.

Progestin-only pill
: Who should avoid it?

If you’re schedule-challenged, take heed: Progestin-only pills must be taken every day at the same time to be fully effective; use a backup method if you get off-schedule.

It is believed to be a contributing factor to chronic fatigue syndrome, immune weakness, allergies, general systemic degeneration and many other problems. The usual approach to this problem is a combination of using anti-yeast agents and an extremely strict diet. People who follow this approach usually experience partial but not total improvement. This improvement is often temporary and most people are not able to follow such a strict diet for long. Is this your story? If so, there is another way.
Let us explain in more detail:

Candida is a yeast infection which begins in the digestive system and little by little spreads to other parts of the body. It produces a large number of different toxins which weaken the immune system, glands, kidneys, bladder, lungs, liver, brain and nervous system. It is believed to be a contributing factor to chronic fatigue, immune weakness, allergies and general systemic degeneration. But a much larger group of diseases are connected.

The usual approach to this problem is a combination of using anti-yeast agents such as nyastatin or other more natural ones plus a diet which avoids all foods which contribute to yeast overgrowth.

People who do these programs usually experience a partial but not total improvement, which is often temporary. It almost never complete resolves the problem and most people can’t maintain the strict diet in the long run. It is just too limiting and it is almost impossible to eat in restaurants or at friends houses while following the diet. Many people desperately looking for an answer to their problems, thought this approach would solve them all, but it hasn’t. This approach is partially useful but is not the answer to this problem.

The limitation is that the yeast is not the total problem. The yeast overgrowth is just a symptom of a much deeper underlying problem. Candida is a normal part of our body. The problem is that the immune system, which is supposed to keep the candida under control is not functioning properly. You don’t need to kill the yeast- you need to get your immune system working well. This homeopathy can do. Homeopaths choose which one homeopathic remedy matches your precise problem. Here is an example.
Laura was a 42 year old woman who had been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and the presence of candida overgrowth and Epstein-Barr virus. This is a very common diagnosis in recent years. She had gone for treatment for the candida but the nyastatin and caprillic acid made her feel sick and she couldn’t stick to the candida diet for long.
She told me that she had very low energy. She said that she had periods of feeling very heavy, as if too weak to stand. These were accompanied by her mind fogging — she couldn’t complete sentences and forgot what she was talking about. She couldn’t read at these times because by the time she reached the end of a sentence she would have forgotten the beginning. Depression accompanied these symptoms.

She also had fear of heights and cancer. I asked her whether she was excessively messy or excessively clean. She said she was extremely fastidious. Her friends hated her to visit because she noticed every speck of dirt or dust.
On the basis of these and other symptoms I prescribed one dose of Agnus Castus. (note this was the right remedy for her but the possibility of it being the right remedy for another person suffering from Candida is very low).

For the first two days she was totally exhausted with restless sleep and headaches. By one month she was much better. Despite a stressful month her energy level was really good. She had no periods of exhaustion or mind-fog. She felt for the first time that she could lead an ordinary life.

Now after 6 months, her energy level is higher than it has ever been in her life. The whole pattern of exhaustion and all the symptoms that went with it are totally gone.

Laura was not an exception, we have been able to help many people with similar problems.

In these examples you see the difference between homeopathy and other approaches for treatment of candida. After the right remedy we expect to see everything getting better in the person’s life.

All women have at some point experienced heady bleeding during the menstruation period. It is good to know that bleeding that seems abnormal to us is not always so excessive in order to be diagnosed as menorrhagia.
Menorrhagia can be determined easily by two facts: how often do you change your pad or tampon and how long does your menstruation last. For example, if you need to change the tampon every hour or if your period last more than a full week, you may be experiencing menorrhagia and you should consult a doctor about it.
The heavy menstrual bleeding, or menorrhagia, may be caused by several reasons. The first of them is hormonal imbalance during the adolescence or the menopause. Menorrhagia, caused by hormonal imbalance, may be treated with birth control pills.
Heavy bleeding may be also caused by uterine fibroid tumors which usually occur at the age of thirty or forty. These tumors are not cancerous and can be treated surgically or with non-surgical methods. Usually, the uterine fibroid tumors disappear during the menopause.
Other reasons for excessive menstrual bleeding include different polyps, inflammatory diseases, bleeding disorders or cancer.
If you have such problem, you need to consult a medical specialist who will find the reason for the heavy bleeding and will determine a treatment.

But exercise can often help reduce pain and improve your quality of life.

That doesn’t mean it’s easy. The good news is that you don’t have to run a marathon to get back to the business of life.

“Everybody can do something,” says Perry Fine, MD, a board member at the American Pain Foundation. Exercise “does actually allow people not only to reduce their perception of pain but to overcome limited functioning.”

Just remember to pace yourself and maybe even get the help of a physical therapist. Here are 10 types of exercise that can help get you moving.

Walking

This is a low-impact activity that anyone can do almost anywhere: The mall, the local school track, a parking lot, or up four flights of stairs to work.

“It has appeal. It’s easy to do,” Dr. Fine says. “It’s an option you can do during all four seasons no matter where you live, and there are very few conditions where walking is not feasible.”

Swimming

“Swimming is great for people who have osteoarthritis, who have musculoskeletal issues or any joint disease where any kind of impact may exacerbate an underlying problem,” says Dr. Fine, a professor of anesthesiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine, in Salt Lake City.

The reason: Swimming (and other forms of water exercise) defies gravity, so there aren’t any unpleasant and potentially damaging jolts to the joints.

Yoga

The breathing component of yoga might be just as helpful to ease chronic pain as the movement and stretching.

But Steven Calvino, MD, an assistant professor of anesthesiology and rehabilitation medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, in New York City, recommends against doing certain poses.

“Yoga can involve very extreme ranges of motion involving the spine and other joints so there is a risk of injury,” he says. “You want to do whatever is a comfortable range of motion within your abilities. Don’t push it unless you’re in very good condition.”

Still, Dr. Fine notes, “even someone who is bedridden could simply start with certain breathing exercises and focusing on different body parts, integrating this into either active or passive movements (such as contracting a muscle).”

Tai chi

A good exercise for the young and old alike is tai chi, a martial art that originated in China and, like yoga, cultivates mindfulness.

“Tai chi is marvelous. There’s almost no one too old as long as you can move a little bit. It incorporates the body and the mind,” Dr. Fine says.

A New England Journal of Medicine study this year found that twice-weekly sessions of tai chi reduced pain, stiffness, and fatigue in fibromyalgia patients. Tai chi also helps with building strength, endurance, and balance.

Pilates

This increasingly popular exercise regimen, developed by Joseph Pilates in the early days of the last century, helps with core strength building for “a society that’s extraordinarily burdened by low back pain,” Dr. Fine says.

In addition to people with back pain, people with fibromyalgia may benefit from this fitness system.

A 2009 study in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation found that Pilates improved pain more than a relaxation/stretching regimen. But Pilates generally requires some instruction, so look for an experienced teacher.

Simple stretching

You can do this activity in the bedroom or while waiting in line. “Stretching and getting all your body parts moving in a full range of motion and working just a little bit against gravity is helpful,” says Dr. Fine. There are a million different stretching programs to choose from. The University of California, Los Angeles, for instance, diagrams stretching exercises for people who spend too much time sitting.

Light-weight and strength training

Weight training is particularly helpful for people suffering from arthritis.

The “exercises strengthen the joints around the injury and that takes some of the stress off the joint when you’re using it,” Sluka says.

Weights that are from an ounce to 5 to 10 pounds will help. However, it’s important to pace yourself when doing these exercises. Start with a can of soup, if you’ve been inactive for a long time, or try doing sit-ups or push-ups around the house.

Sex

Don’t laugh! Sexual activity counts as a form of exercise.

“Exercise and healthy sex (which is, after all, a form of exercise) are probably two of the most important panaceas against pain, (but) healthy sex is harder to prescribe than exercise,” Dr. Fine says.

A recent study from Stanford University found that undergrads in the throes of a new love affair were less likely to feel pain inflicted on them.

“The feeling of being intimately connected, or in partnership with another person or even a pet, seems also to be a vital issue in people’s lives in terms of coping and pain,” Dr. Fine says.

Golfing

This activity will give you some of the benefits of walking (if you don’t use a cart), but it is “probably one of the worst sports for your low back because of the torques involved,” says Dr. Calvino.

“When you’re making the golf swing, the (strain) is enormous, especially on the lower back.”

Golfing should be combined with strengthening and stretching activities. Same with tennis. “You don’t play tennis to get into shape. You should be in shape before stepping onto the court,” he says.

Aerobic activity

In general, aerobic activities (which can include using the treadmill or riding on a stationary bike) are particularly good for people with fibromyalgia.

A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Rheumatology in 2008 found that strength-only training helped with symptoms, but that aerobic activity helped alleviate symptoms as well as improved physical function.

And besides helping your heart, says Kathleen Sluka, PhD, a professor of physical therapy and rehabilitation science at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, “the aerobics activates your endogenous opioid mechanisms…to reduce pain.”
