If like many of us, you haven’t heard about dental bonding before, there can be a lot to know. Keep reading to learn what dental bonding is and how it works.
When is dental bonding used? The bonding composite resin used can be shaped and polished to one or multiple teeth to improve the appearance of discolored teeth, chipped teeth, to close spaces or gaps between teeth, or lengthen teeth.
Is bonding expensive? Bonding is not only low cost, but also one of the simplest dental cosmetic procedures. Dental bonding is painless and does not even require anesthesia.
So how is dental bonding done? First, a shade guide is used to select the perfect color. Your dentist will then edge and rough the tooth that is getting the bonding applied to it which is a painless process. Next, the tooth or teeth are coated with a conditioning liquid to help the bonding resin adhere. Now the resin is then applied to the tooth and molded to the perfect shape. Finally, using a bright light, the bonded resin hardens in place. Now, all that’s left is some more trimming and shaping to get the best look.
