Having a regular period is a sign that everything with your health is fine. However, for most women these days are very uncomfortable as they experience various symptoms, such as headaches, cramps, nausea, mood changes, etc. There are certain ways to reduce the discomfort during your menstrual cycle. The foods you eat can have a great effect on the way you feel, so here are some tips about what foods you should avoid and what foods you should eat.

There are some foods you need to avoid in order to maintain your good health and comfort during you monthly period. The hormones make you feel bloated and hungry in the same time, but you should be careful about what you eat. Thus, you need to avoid sugar, fatty meats, and fast foods. Also, you need to limit the intake of salt and caffeine. Alcohol will just make you feel more uncomfortable and will increase the effects of the mood changes you experience.

Now, let’s take a look at the foods that are beneficial during a menstrual cycle. Minerals and vitamins are of great importance because they help your body maintains its proper functions and balance. So, you need to increase the intake of minerals and vitamins, such as iron, magnesium, vitamin B, vitamin E, and calcium. For this purpose you should consume leafy vegetables, beans, nuts, potatoes, oatmeal, eggs, milk products and broccoli.

In addition, you should eat products that contain omega-3 fatty acids, such as flaxseed, walnuts and salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids can reduce the pain during menstruation. Complex carbohydrates are also very beneficial because they help you maintain normal blood sugar levels. To provide your body with complex carbohydrate, you need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains.

Dark chocolate is also recommended because it will help you improve your mood and feel better. It will also satisfy your need to eat something sweet.
