Urgent care centers are hugely essential all throughout the United States, of this there is no doubt. After all, the number of urgent care locations seen throughout the country has only continued to grow as the years have passed on. Since first becoming prevalent in the early 2000s there are now more than 7,000 urgent care clinics found from one end of the cost to the next – and everywhere in between, as well. And the walk in health clinic is something that has grown so much in prominence that walk in clinics now employ as many as 20,000 different doctors and even more other such medical professionals – a number that is only growing as the years pass on. All in all, the average number of patients to be served per week at such clinics has now reached at least three million, a truly impressive number indeed, to say the very least on the subject matter.
But why have urgent care centers become so widely utilized? Why is the average walk in health clinic more important than ever before? For one thing, the typical walk in health clinic will provide broader access to medical care than even the typical doctor’s office can. Much of this is due to the fact that the average walk in health clinic will be open each and every day of the week. As a matter of fact, this is something that up to 85% of all walk in health clinics are now able to claim. Many an urgent care location and walk in health clinic will also boast hours earlier in the morning and later into the evening than what can be found at the typical doctor’s office.
In addition to this, the variety of treatments that can be offered at a walk in health clinic is likely to be much broader than you even realize. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of all cases seen in the ER can be seen at a walk in health clinic, with only around 3% of all cases ever needing to be transferred from a walk in health clinic to an urgent care setting. And up to 60% of all cases seen in the typical emergency room could have instead been treated at an urgent care center.
Even fracture care can be provided at more than three quarters (around 80%, to be just a bit more specific) of all urgent care locations. In addition to this, treatments such as IV fluids and stitches can also often also be administered. Ankle sprains are also commonly treated, as there are often up to 25,000 different ankle sprain cases occurring over the course of just one single day. Therefore, it is quite likely indeed that the average urgent care center has quite a bit of experience dealing with sprains, particularly of the ankle variety.
Various illnesses can also be handled in the typical walk in health clinic. After all, up to one fifth of the population is likely to contract the flu during a particularly bad flu season but at least 5% of the population is likely to get the flu no matter how mild the particular season in question might be. And though the flu cannot be cured, as it is a virus, an anti viral treatment that reduces systems and cuts down the duration of the illness can be found in many a walk in health clinic.
The average walk in health clinic will also offer flu shots in the majority of cases. And getting the flu shot is something that just about everyone should do. After all, the flu shot will not only reduce your chances of actually catching the flu, but it can reduce your flu symptoms even if you DO end up getting it. Therefore, getting the flu shot is something that can mitigate your risk of developing serious complications, ranging from pneumonia to sepsis, as a result of the flu. When given this information, it is clear to see that the flu shot is a life saving force indeed.
All in all, urgent care centers matter a lot.
