How To Treat Acne Prone Skin

Acne is one of the most common skin problems that people face today — in fact, it’s estimated that around 40 million to 50 million people, including both teens and adults, suffer from acne! It’s always recommended that you visit your dermatologist to get severe acne issues addressed, but there are a few at-home remedies which can help improve your skin, too.

First, it goes without saying that you should be keeping a regular schedule for washing your face. Medicated soaps can be helpful for killing off bacteria, but keep in mind that a gentler soap may be better suited for your skin than a very harsh soap. A key part of health dermatology, though, is making sure that your skin is moisturized! Many people swear by organic oils, like coconut oil or grapeseed oil, instead of a traditional moisturizer. Even though it seems contradictory to put more oil on skin that’s already oily, this will actually help your skin produce less oil over time.

There are plenty of organic acne treatments available too, although these might not work well for severe acne treatments. Things like tea tree oil work very well to dry out pimples, and cinnamon is actually very effective at reducing inflammation when it’s applied to the exterior of skin (just make sure that you aren’t putting too much cinnamon on senstive skin, since this can be very irritating).

Soothing products for acne-prone skin are important to have around as well. Witch hazel is a great way to control excess oil and to clean off your skin, while aloe vera can sooth any painful areas. Chamomile tea is actually great for helping wounds to heal, too!

It’s always advised to see your dermatologist before making any major changes to your skin care routine, but don’t worry if you haven’t found the right treatment yet!
