Today, Americans are experiencing more and more pains associated with orthopedics. They are working longer hours, not eating as well, not exercising and not relaxing as much. All of this causes a lot of stress onto the bones of the body and can lead to illness and injury. On a positive note, with the increase of orthopedic issues; there has also been an increase in the available exercises and activities that will help to prevent and diminish pain in these areas.
People can experience pain and stiffness in many areas of their body. Their bodies degenerate over time, leading to higher chances of surgeries. An orthopedic surgeon is someone who would perform the knee surgery, hip surgery or surgeries on a variety of hand and wrist conditions. The spine or back is also a common area for both pains and surgeries. In fact, up to 31 million Americans experience low-back pain at any given time. Additionally, experts estimate that as many as 80% of the population will experience a back problem at some time in our lives. Fortunately for the spine, minimally invasive spine procedures have been developed to allow for shorter recovery time and for less risky surgeries. Hip surgery is also minimally invasive today.
Although hip surgeries are now minimally invasive and much safer than they used to be, it is better to prevent surgery whenever possible. This can be done by exercise and stretching. Exercising will build up the surrounding muscles to the hip, or to whatever other body part is in pain. This will allow that specific hip area to do less work, further preventing any damage. Also, stretching can help pull out the muscles and strengthen them. It will also prevent the ability to pull a muscle. One in four people may develop painful hip arthritis at some point in their lifetime. With the appropriate amount of stretching and exercising, this arthritic condition can be prevented or well-controlled.
Surgery is something that has changed with the times, making it much safer. However, surgery should still remain to be a last resort, something that is only an option when all other options have been exhausted. Stretching, exercising and eating right at the basic fundamentals to prevents any injury or illness. Surgeries like a hip surgery and a lower spine surgery now have many more options, other than surgery.
